About Puddleduck Ascot |
|

Puddleduck Preschool & Day Nursery Ascot is located within the beautiful grounds of the Ascot Priory which was established in 1861. Set within 40 acres of woodland, Puddleduck provides regular opportunities for outdoor learning and exploration. We offer a caring and stimulating environment where children from 9months – 4 years are able to thrive. We provide outstanding early years care and education. Our director is a qualified Headteacher with a Masters in Education and our environment and curriculum are planned thoughtfully with careful consideration of children’s interests and needs. Einstein once said, “Play is the highest form of research” and at Puddleduck, play is very much at the heart of all of our learning!
Forest School
Puddleduck Ascot is set within 40 acres of beautiful woodland and children take part in daily forest school activities. We recognise the importance of taking learning outdoors and provide regular opportunities to go den building, bug hunting, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, building campfires and exploring the many beautiful features of the woodlands. There are many advantages to sending children to a Forest School. Benefits include building confidence and independence, feeling empathy for others and for nature, developing physical fitness, health benefits (such as exposure to soil microorganisms help boost the body’s levels of serotonin, the chemical linked to feelings of well-being), improving mental well-being, exposure to manageable risk and improved sleep.
Intergenerational Care
You may have seen Channel 4’s show, “Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds”. This documentary followed the interactions between preschoolers and the elderly. We follow the same principles by providing regular opportunities for children to visit and be visited by our neighbours at St David’s Care home. This intergenerational care is incredibly beneficial to our children. For those children who don’t live near extended family, it provides opportunities to experience the care of a grandparent. Hearing about stories of previous generations can help give children a sense of time and place which is important for feeling safe and secure. Children also learn empathy, learning to care for those around them and to be more responsible. The children benefit from the undivided attention from the elderly residents, people who have time to listen and care about the stories the children have to share.
